    I don't know about you...but I love them.

Sometimes I think, instead of the book/poem, I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten,
for me it would be the works of Monty Python.

And now, after years...they're coming back together for some fun.

I especially admire, "The Meaning of Life"
Their ability to mix the intellectual with the absurd. (and a bit of naughty to boot... :D)

Who else is a Python fan??

  2. I'm a big fan, not so nerdy as to be able to recite whole scenes from memory, though. I watched the series on PBS before my friends caught on. My fantasy football team name is a tribute to Holy Grail.

I'm looking forward to their new take on current events.

    Love 'em.

Absurdist comedy at its very best.
Mom: Chris, why do you watch this?
Me: It's funny, give it a chance.
    Mom: It's absurd.
Me: Totally absurd, that's what makes it funny.
    Mom: (exasperated sigh).

The scene where the King of Swamp Castle is trying to get the two guards to follow his insructions should be part of every employee training film.

RIP, Graham Chapman, you are still missed.

I, on the other hand, can recite large chunks from memory. I always wonder with this kind of thing, whether a reunion just makes them look like sad old men trying to recapture their "fame" and instead ends up tarnishing our memories?

I blow my nose at you, so called Arthur King and all your silly little english KKKKK nig its!

Seems like a good place to drop this:

OPB showed Monty Python's Flying Circus every Friday night when I was a teenager. Good stuff. I remember making sure I got home from stuff on time to catch it.

yep. Old time fan.. my father used to watch it on tv ("what's on the telly?" "a penguin") as new episodes and I was too young to understand the humour. 4 scant years later, my friends and I were making highschool girls pee their pants cause they were laughing so much at our renditions of the Parrot sketch (beautiful bird the Norwegian Blue... ), the Spanish Inquisition (Noooooooooooobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!) the Cheese Shop (shut that bloody bazuki up!) and the Lumberjack Song (suspenders and a bra?!!?? ewww!).

My first date with my highschool girlfriend was to see the Holy Grail. My first movie date with my now wife was to go see The Meaning of Life. I found that girls who didn't appreciate Python (note, they didn't necessarily have to like Python, just appreciate the genious) wouldn't last long in a relationship with me...

    Spam.

A few interesting things about Graham Chapman. These bits of info came from wide a variety sources, but mostly interviews with Chapman and members of MP:

Was openly homosexual back when 'getting caught' could land you in prison. Didn't like closet gays, & didn't like poofters (effeminate gays).
Chose to chance a career with MP over attending to medical school.
Was a severe alcoholic, and got sober.
Didn't want the lead roles, was basically pushed/forced into them by the other MP members.

Have you ever seen the documentary on them? (or on him?)
    - Monty Python: Almost the Truth (Lawyers Cut) - 6 part TV series /1 hour each. - excellent perspective
    - A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman - an animated tribute to him by the group.

    Love them deeply.

That said, I do not want them to reunite. Not at all.

I want to remember them as they were, not as they are.

The first one, maybe in bits & pieces. The second one, no.

It's a family tradition in our house to watch The Life of Brian on Easter. It's so much better than the Ten Commandments. My 13 year old son has gone trick or treating as the Spanish Inquisition for the past two years. He does the bit, and gets extra candy from those who get it.

I don't know if they could do silly walks anymore...might throw their backs out.

That or run a twit race again... :p

Awesome that they sold out so fast...may mean there will be more.
MP bank accounts thank you for your patronage.
