Hello all...thought you may want to know this.

Please check your computer systems for this malware virus.
    Noted in this article below...

The check sites are at the bottom of the article and it is very easy and quick to do. (and free...)

Please note that some of your internet vendors or work servers may be affected,
thus may affect your internet connection, even if it is not directly on your computer.
But at least you'll know what's up.

There is a deadline of Monday.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Had your computer been infected with DNS changer malware you would have seen a red background. Please note, however, that if your ISP is redirecting DNS traffic for its customers you would have reached this site even though you are infected. For additional information regarding the DNS changer malware, please visit the FBI's website at:
    http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/november/malware_110911

So does this mean I am absolutely maybe infected?

    Holy sensationalism!

Seems somebody in the PR office needs to better differentiate between "no 'Net connection" and "computer totally blacked out."

Unless they fine print is that they've got a thousand drones with Hellfire missiles ready to go in each state of the union.

Yeah, uh, this thing must be huge... the first I've heard of this was in a long email from my paranoid mother.

I know we're all "Fuck Chicken Little!" these days (as was seen recently with SOPA), but c'mon now.

We all know you only get malware from looking at porn. And only dirty people do that.

I seriously doubt anyone here's going to be infected with the alleged malware, and most of us should know how to deal with it. That said, I can't believe the article suggests using MCAFEE as a way to combat the malware. Everyone knows McAfee is a piece of crap.

Ironic that you would say that. I look up pornography all the time; never get viruses. My mother looks up cooking recipes, and gets ALL the viruses.

It's just asking you to put in your IP Address. That's literally no big deal.

Hey, I've been there when they've worked.
I've been there when they've failed.

    Sure, it's hype...but it's also potentially real.
An easy check, an easy fix.
And at least confirmation of your insanity...if it does occur.
I hate it when things just "happen", and you end up spending time on detective work. (and I'm a very experienced user...can't imagine for a lay-person)

I think it's simple...media needs to get off the PANIC button.
Simply distribute the potential as a PSA.
Check it...if not, fine...if so, fix. Anything outside, at least you know WTF.

It's like walking across the street...%99.99 of the time, you look...you get across with no issue.
Do you really want to chance the 1 in a 1000 time, you don't look???
Even if you had the right of way...even if you're right, you don't win an argument with a moving car.

    What's the foreknowledge cost me?

Can I pay you to narrate my jokes? I think that'd be amazing, especially with the obscure '80s crap.

So... wait... is the learning point here that I've basically pulled a 21st century Mithridates and consumed enough international spam, niche porn and junk websites to ward off any potential malware attacks? I mean, hell... based on that kinda activity, the gummint comps should be immune, too.
