Well you've probably heard the big MMA news by now but the UFC has signed a deal with Fox.
(okay I can't post links yet)

It's going to air mainly on FX with apparently four shows a year on Fox itself. A pretty big step up for the UFC from Spike or VS really.

Not that this actually affects ME much at all, Showdown Joe has already stated on his Twitter that Sportsnet's deal with the UFC remains unchanged. They'll just get the FX aired shows instead of the Spike aired ones.

The interesting change is going to be The Ultimate Fighter. Apparently after next season (which was already taping and is airing on Spike) all the fights will air live with the show being put together on a weekly basis from the past weeks footage.
Also means the coaches will be training for their own fight during TUF to fight at the next PPV. Meaning that fighters will only be tied up for the weeks that the show is airing instead of being tied up for the taping, then going into a training camp for months to prep for the fight.

Not much attention was given this thread at the time of its posting, but maybe it'll get some life yet.

I've never really been into sports in general, besides a brief period in my youth when I followed hockey for a bit. More recently, I've experienced a growing interest in mixed-martial arts (through UFC), in large part because I'm currently training in Muay Thai and hapkido. It's fascinating to see some of the stuff you're learning applied to people for reals.

I've seen a few PPV events over the past year, but I don't often get an opportunity to see them (I can't justify spending the money just for me to watch on my own). I notice that Netflix has a bunch of past events. They go as far back as UFC 83, and as recent as UFC 158. They also have "year in review" material. I'm thinking of checking some of these out. It's not as exciting when you're not watching it live, but I think I'd at least like to check out some highlight reels.
