What a day I had today. I started off with the upgrade, and was expecting to go to a class on how to photograph food.

This is what I signed up for...
and it isn't what I got....

Instead it was a meetup.com where chefs, food stylists, and photographers all got together and just did their thing. Chefs brought their already prepared foods and ingredients for plating. They were assisted by food stylists if needed. Then it was the photographers turn to take photos.

At the end of the day, people had food, drinks, and photos.

It was an amazing day. skogafoss and I had so much fun with so little effort. We spoke to the guys who initiated it and next time, I'm not only going to take pictures, but I'll also cook and bring something to plate up.

  2. That food looks absolutley great. All of it.

I chuckled at the ketchup packets.

Oh yeah, the photography was pretty good, too.

I wish I had a DSLR to take food pics, I really do. This looks like an awesome opportunity, not just to eat and talk to people but to take pictures and learn about styling food.

There were a few people taking photos with their phones and point and shoot cameras. I don't have any photos of them but they were there.

I do think that for many, they should learn how to use those cameras for taking food shots since many do take food shots with them. They can learn how to adjust what they can to make a better photo.

It's what I use. I just wish the camera on the Droid3 worked better. I could use my Olympus point-and-shoot, but it's a hassle to get the pics off the camera quickly, unlike with the phone, where I can upload as I go. One of the things I enjoy about taking pictures of my food is the immediate reaction I get by sharing it on social media sites.

What I really need is a DSLR/smartphone that will upload my pics onto the web seamlessly.

there are wifi things you can attach to your camera. At the end they collected all the images, and they will organize them and figure out how to use them for their purposes. We cam home and I uploaded my share.

Borla, have to figure out how to get a potluck together and get friends to come over and just play photographer.

You could get an Eye Fi Card like this one. This is the high end one. The thing is that you'll need to have wifi access, which isn't always available.

There is also the Olympus Pen pal

For now I just covertly snap a quick pick with my iPhone so I don't look completely like a fool when I take pics of my food at restaurants. :p

That's what I do for most meal photos.

There's some times when I do want to get better images than my phone.

I take too many photos of what I am cooking/baking.

That said, it looks like it was a lot of fun.
