Last night I exchanged part of my soul and purchased an Ipod touch.

Nice little DAP and smooth interface. Still not sure how this iMessenger works that is supposedly installed. More interested in the Video recording aspect, but will have to play with it some and get a better feel for it.
Yes it uses iTunes (I have called it a 'bloated pig' before and will stand by that still) for everything which was not a deal killer for me as I already have more songs/money invested in that over the years than I care to to think about. It did sync with all of my files quite quickly, now I just need to decide what to convert to MP3/MP4 (probably going with AAC) and upload to this thing as a significantly larger portion of my collection is nowhere near iTunes and things that I transferred myself from vinyl or tape. My last DAP was "considerably" cheaper and had a next to useless interface that stymied all of my efforts to make it useful.
I can even the handle the part in the EULA where Apple reserves the right rename any of your offspring 'Steve' whenever they desire. Reaaaaly small print and in Flash so anyone using an iPhone cannot read it

  2. iMessenger - think of it as free text messages but only to other iDevices (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad).

I love my 64gb ipod touch. I should have just gotten a 32 but here we are.

iOs5 is pretty cool. Messenger works well. I don't care about itunes or my music in general to make such a big deal about it sucking

I'm pretty sure my iPod touch is 2nd gen (16 gb), which means no iOS 5 for me.

I like it. It serves me well. I use it all the time.

iTunes works well enough, and I have no problem that the iPod touch must use it. It always has been stable for me. I use Foobar2000 for most everything else and generally just use iTunes for the relativity small portion of songs out of my whole collection that were purchased through it.

This is definitely a solid little device and the touchscreen is well done and responsive. Just what I wanted for a phone but was unwilling to pay the associated monthly bill for two years.
I figured out how to record video but have no clue where this supposed iMessenger thing is even after looking online. Not that it matters much to me, was just going to experiment with texting my parents' or possibly siblings' iPhones.
It did sync quickly with iTunes and transfer everything over. And iWhy the iHell does iEverything from iApple start iWith i?

It is called iMarketing, and should be a case study at every business school.

iMessage works, I was using it tonight with my sister who has the iPod Touch. (I still would rather call) There should be a Messages app (Green square with white dialog box icon), and you can send a message to other Apple devices if you know the e-mail address or iPhone number.

Branding, dude. Establishing a brand is a big part of building customer loyalty. Apple's got the whole thing down to a science.

The company I work for actually does something similar, just with a different prefix.

I may just have to buy one. My kid keeps getting mad that I 'borrow' his.

the basic one is $199 now. That's a great price for a small computer since that's about what it is but more diminutive.

The iBook app is my favourite so far, I can read books on my breaks at work and the iPod screen works surprisingly well for that purpose. I download all of my books from the mobile version of the Gutenberg Project, and have 9 on there so far. I read a good portion of The Time Machine by H. G. Wells this morning on break and lunch.

The Tapatalk app is the only I have paid for but I have not gone anywhere yet with only my ipod and a wifi connection to make it practically useful to me. Looked quite sharp though in few tests with it here at home, and well worth the money.

The Spy Cams app is fun to play with. Nice being able to get a glimpse of places all over the world and the map feature on it shows where in the world it is located.

I have to add the Netflix app to the "cool" list. Sitting here watching ST: Enterprise on the iPod screen and it looks good.

Figured out I have version 4.3.5 on the iPod. After a forced minor upgrade to iTunes should be able to upgrade to 5.0

What I was just figuring this morning. I downloaded imessenger the other day but it just hung on me and failed to connect. This explanation makes much more sense to me to my MS DOS/windows trained brain now.

What do you mean by Tapatalk is better on iOS? I haven't had any problems with Tapatalk on Android, other than it seems to pick up on that page number bug that Xenforo has.

Having this small screen Apple product shows me that I would actually have reasons to use an iPad, especially for the iBook and Netflix thing. Of course I have no NEED of an ipad and cannot see when I would realistically have a job that would provide me with one or the extra money to spend on one.
