Hey guys! I know I don't post very much any more (I was extremely active on the old forum), but I need a HUGE favor. On my podcast (Season Pass, the original podcast all about TV shows that lasted one season or less), we want to discuss that weird Wheel of Time pilot that aired on FXX last week. The problem is that neither myself nor my co-host have read the books, and we'd like to have that bit of insider knowledge while tearing this thing apart.

So, anyone here interested or know someone who would be? We would need someone with Skype and a halfway decent microphone.

It's not on my FiOS "On-Demand" yet. So I'm going to have to find it elsewhere.
But this may enlighten you as to why they did the weirdness.
And we may have more coming... (at a better plot arc and release timeframe)

No, you weren’t dreaming that Wheel Of Time pilot that was on at 1 a.m.

Producers Of That Wheel Of Time TV Pilot Are Suing Robert Jordan's Widow

But if they do this...they better be in for the long haul. (14 VERY thick books, Oi Vey)
And get some VERY bitchy women to play the females...because that's how they were written, bitchy even towards other women...maybe especially towards other women.

And if they can do this...
Why can't they do David Edding's Belgariad saga...or Raymond Feist's Magician sagas

But WOT would be interesting to see translated.
Man, the thing would be a twisted plot leaping all about. Like a friggin' soap opera.

Love the books, I have all of them on my kindle account. (And the last two on Hardback)
They need to do this right and not totally cock up the characters though.

  5. Ive always though that The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant would be a good one to do. It would be interesting to see how you could work a TV show with a hero who is fundamentally so unlikeable.

I could never finish WoT myself. Gave up on the 8th book.

Lolita was filmed twice, so it's quite possible.

Not that Donaldson is any Nabokov, though.

I think I'm done after the first. However, I'm willing to give it a second chance.

  7. Not as a show though. And Lolita herself wasnt that bad. Humbert Humbert was obviously a creep, but that was the point of him. I think you can make a film about awful people anyway, but I cannot think of many shows that hang off of a lead character who is broadly detestable, but it would be interesting if it was done well.
