Been suffering with heartburn for years and can't seem to make it better. Anyone else has the same problem? Any recommendations that work to stop it or minimize it. Taking acid blockers is not a good solution, need acid to digest foods and minerals. Osteoporosis is not what I want later in life!
I have tried lots of different supplements.
They say that 70% of the country's population has Helicobacter Pylori infection, the bacteria that causes heartburn, ulcers. Some people suffer from heartburn and others don't.
Post your anti heartburn home remedy if you have one. I would like to continue drinking my morning coffee, my red wine in the evening.

I suffered with heartburn for years and couldn't seem to make it better. One day I was driving back from my grandmother's house, where the whole family got together to eat every Sunday, and I started feeling dizzy, disoriented, and had pain radiating from my chest up to my teeth, out to my fingers along the ulnar nerve, and down to my knees. After checking into the ER with all the symptoms of a heart attack, my EKG came back completely normal. Apparently in very severe cases, GERD can produce the same symptoms as a heart attack.

You're not going to be able to avoid real medical treatment if it's bad. A few weeks of proton pump inhibitors (and antibiotics if you have h. pylori) combined with a bland diet and sorry, skipping your morning coffee and evening wine, will let esophageal damage and ulcers heal. I was on PPIs for a little over a year to get it under control and I'm down to only needing an antacid for heartburn or gaviscon for acid reflux 5-10 times a year.

I'm pretty lucky that mine resolved with dietary changes, so I'm not positive the dx was correct. Now I keep some Underberg on hand for meals that are too heavy or possible triggers. Which reminds me, I need to go by Binny's to restock.

To the OP: Are you obese?
What's your schedule like, vis a vis when you eat meals, what you do after you eat, and when you go to bed?
