Guys, opinions on these make-up styles? Girls, do you do them?

Stumbled upon this article today: http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/make-up-women-love-but-men-hate-2479792.html

Guys, do you agree with this list?

I have to say that I do agree for the most part. While there is something to be said for some lipstick, eye-shadow, and a nice hair-style, I typically prefer simple make-up. I've never been a fan of glitter, heavy eye make-up, or most extreme styles. Usually, less is more IMO. Fortunately I am married to someone who I think strikes a good balance.

Girls, do you do any of them?

Bumps, aka, the whale testicle, have to be the STUPIDEST fucking thing I've ever seen. It is on VERY rare occasion that I see a girl with that hair do, and am not instantly turned off, regardless of how insanely hot she would be otherwise. For those of you who remember the TV show "LEXX", this is all I can think of when I see the stupid bump:

That aside, LBC was into the blue eyeshadow thing. Not ridiculously overdone, but I can't stand it, and would never pay attention. Same with the stupid red lipstick. She came home one day and had very subtle, natural looking makeup on, and I actually noticed it. Looked waaaaaaaaaay better than the deliberate shit.

My advice - ladies, if you want to impress other ladies, wear all the trendy makeup shit in the magazines. 9 times out of 10, you all just look equally ridiculous. If you want to impress a dude, just keep it toned down. The line between sexy and Bozo the clown is not as fine as you would think.

  4. I agree for the most part. Each style shown is at the extreme. Anything turned up to 11 ends up losing it's appeal rather quickly. Maybe some of this to a much lesser degree wouldn't be so bad. Except for the overly plucked eyebrows, yuck.

No, I don't. When I wear makeup, I tend to be minimalist about it. I don't wear foundation, but I do wear L'Oreal's Magic Perfecting Base. I wear a bit of eyeliner, then I put on either this MAC Paints shadow I have that is almost skin tone, or this MAC shadow I have that is gold. It doesn't take a lot. I use just enough to brighten up my eyes. Then I put on a bit of lip gloss, and I am good to go. I don't really follow makeup trends anymore. I know what makes me look good.

  6. Some of those pictures just prove the point - that the past should often be left in the past.

I can appreciate most of the points, but th bump has been out for years...lest you're leaving on th Jersey Shore. While I generally prefer minimalist make-up, I have to say that pin-up looks and funky styles do turn my crank. As long as I am not smeared with its myself, and you don't look like a clown, play on ladies.

There is a subtle but definite odor that comes from caked-on makeup.
I think it's the foundation but I don't really know.
    I find it stomach-turning.
    So none for me thanks!

Granted I'm of the female persuasion but I dont do any of the above mentioned things. I also dont find them attractive on a girl....and yes I don't have a problem admitting to that or even admiring another good looking female.

I do the rosy cheeks because I'm pale as hell and need color in my face.

Caked on foundation, occasionally. Depends on where I am in my cycle-- I tend to break out about once a month.

I go clubbing a lot-- goth or fetish clubs, mainly. There's a certain style of make-up that is expected and, as such, fits in. Not to do it would be a social faux pas.

I have actually have seen some of the first episodes of Lexx on netflix and that 'bump' look only works for that character. Not something I find appealing in real life at all though. Somebody at work has been wearing Blue eyeshadow lately and I just cannot see how that looks good either.

No bump, no two-tone lips, but eye-shadow always. Glitter tends to be overdone but can be sexy in cleavage. No neon

  15. Less is WAAYYY more when it comes to make-up.
If the woman insists on wearing make-up, I prefer it when they use it to accentuate features that they already have, as opposed to using it to change how you look or cover up features that you don't like. Freckles are adorable, show them things!

Tastefully done wedding frocks. Women who love their man prove it by having LED lights fitted to their dress and carry the burn scars for ever. Is this what you chaps dream of being greeted by or what?

I like to wear glitter when I go out dancing, but that's about it. My makeup's pretty minimal, to the point that most people either don't know I wear it, or think I wear only eyeshadow and mascara (I love white eyeshadow. But mascara, I only wear when, again, dancing or clubbing or what have you.)

What I've noticed happens a lot though, is guys are all "man, I hate when chicks wear so much makeup!" And then they're totally drooling over the "too much makeup" girl. Not always, and not all men, I know. But a good majority.

Gwen Stefani can get away with almost anything. She's incredibly pretty but has no unusual features that would prevent her from going over the top.
These "looks" as shown are supposed to be artistic exaggerations ( fashion shows, premieres, etc.) but Ms. Average American thinks she can get away with imitating them, much to the dismay of the rest of us with sight.
I am moderate in the make-up. I have to "enhance" my too-light eyebrows and I wear eyeliner and foundation, that's about it. I HATE lipstick, think lipliner looks horrid on 98% of those who attempt it and clown cheeks belong to the circus.
How I wish I could walk up to lipliner offenders and tell them how stupid they look....
