What do you love about this film?

If you haven't see this film, do so now.
    Really.
You will regret it if you don't.

It's going to win a ridiculous number of awards.

It's everything I like about an indy flick with all of the frills of a big blockbuster. It has only 2 characters. It dives deep into the thoughts and mental state of one of those characters. It is riddled with beautiful views of the Earth from space.

Here's an article that discusses how much went into the production when it comes to simulating the microgravity of orbit:

Here's a great review on the film:

Some snippets that I like from the review:

I tend to take notice when a film gets more than a score of 90 on Metacritic and it has more than 15 or 20 reviews listed. I like Metacritic because it calculates a weighted average based on a wider scoring than Rotten Tomato's yay or nay: How We Create the Metascore Magic - Metacritic

Anyway, Gravity has 48 reviews listed and it's currently sitting at a Metascore of 96. Few films achieve this level of acclaim.

That, and the word of mouth that I've been catching is quite unprecedented. So many people are all, like, "Go. No, seriously. Just go."

There are 3 characters in the movie, but he didn't make it very long... :) Although the third might have been all CGI, because he wasn't in the end credit list.

I liked some of Neil deGrasse Tyson's tweets about it. There were a few things that bugged me from a technical aspect. And I think it could have been a little longer. But, I understand that it is a movie too.

I liked what Tyson had to say about some of the errors, but I really liked that he felt compelled to back pedal on those comments.

On the whole, I really liked the film and wish I had seen it in IMAX and 3D (something I never thought I would ever say).

Not much scope for 3D. But IMAX would be awesome

    I watched it last Saturday.
Firstly I liked the spectacle. Always love watching universe.
Secondly I love watching the lack of gravity.
Thirdly I loved watching Sandra's body. I had liked each movie of hers so far. She had built her body like anything. I wish I could do at least 25% of that.

Hah, my husband got nauseous just watching clips on our regular television in the living room. I won't be going to see it, and honestly, I'm not all that interested in it.

I felt queasy just once in the very (mind-blowing) opening shot when my eyes followed the camera's POV. If you don't do that I think you'd be fine as when I stopped doing it, I was. I saw it in 3-D IMAX

    It was so beautiful.
There were times during the film when I felt I was in it.
Gravity immediately jumped to one of my fave films of the past 35 years. What a tour-de-force by Alfonso Cuaron and his son, the cinematographers and Sandra Bullock, of course! She is a woman of nearly fifty years. For a woman of 50 years to be the star of a film this fantastic and successful makes me so happy.
Yes, the story is simple but it's very human and the visuals are literally like nothing you've experienced in a movie theatre previously.

    I watched it last night.

It was mind blowing visually. Story simple but oh so complex if you let it be.

  17. Saw it with my daughter the day it opened. The 3d and surround sound definitely worked for me. QW wants to see it and I'm more than willing to go again.

The visuals were absolutely stunning. I thought the movie was very effective in conveying a sense of helplessness and isolation. Even though the plot itself was pretty simplistic, I felt the sense of the actor's tenuous hold on life and Sandra Bullock's desperation. It was an amazing experience.

The visuals were well done, but I was overall underwhelmed.
