    News release from eagles.com

"Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia."

The Eagles were my favorite band growing up, and even though my feelings for them and Mr. Frey were...complicated, I'm sad to hear this. I'll be breaking out all my albums tonight. Take it easy, Glenn.

I was never into the Eagles, but it's always sad when the world loses a well-loved artist.

That is sad news. RIP, Mr. Frye.

I had a hate-love relationship with The Eagles music, still do to a certain extent. While they were a very good band, I basically got sick of hearing them on the radio. When I was teenager album-oriented rock radio stations played many of their songs, and Top 4o radio stations played many of their songs. When they stopped putting out albums and eventually broke-up (to eventually re-form), classic rock stations played many of their songs, and still do.

My BIL bought me the Hell Freezes Over DVD one Christmas. He loved them, but in Scotland he wasn't overexposed to their music, and couldn't understand my "Meh" attitude. At first I really didn't like HFO because I was sick of hearing The Eagles.

It took me a while to fully appreciate their collective skills as songwriters and musicians.
