1. We've had very few donations over the year. I'm going to be short soon as some personal things are keeping me from putting up the money. If you have something small to contribute it's greatly appreciated. Please put your screen name as well so that I can give you credit. Click here: Donations

Giving Tuesday

Discussion in 'General Discussions' started by ZombieSquirrel, Dec 2, 2014.

  1. There was Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now it's Giving Tuesday. After you spend your money on tons of stuff you may or may not need, you are encouraged by all kinds of philanthropic organizations to donate to a worthy cause. I suppose it's so you feel good about yourself and your consumerism. It doesn't make up for trampling granny at Walmart the day after Thanksgiving. That shit will haunt you forever.

    So I ask of you:

Did you participate in Giving Tuesday?
If so, where did you give? Was it money? Your time? Goods?
Why did you give to that charity or other giving experience?
Please leave a link on this forum in case others would like to give to the cause today (or in the future)

I did participate in Giving Tuesday.

My charity of choice was the National MS Society, and I gave some money. Many of you know that I have MS and so did my mother. I want to see a cure so that my daughter's likelihood of having MS is 0%.

Since I walk every year, I have a fundraising page. I also have one for BabySquirrel.

Thanks for the reminder. I just did.

I gave to a cute little girl's MS Walk page. It was money. I donate some time and some money each month.

I have multiple friends who are touched by this disease, either by having it, or immediate family members who have it.

Cause she is cute, and I'd strongly prefer she not ever get MS.

The link has already been posted. :p

I balanced out - I had nothing to spend (and less desire to do so) and nothing to give (but would like to).

  4. She's pretty stinking cute.

You certainly chose the right batch of babies to pick from when you decided to adopt an Asian baby.....oh wait.....

For some reason the page didn't like my custom donation amount the first time and it went through at the default lowest level. So I made a second one.

Also, the "Lamar" that donated to BabySquirrel?

He's the young man referred to in the "Sometimes things happen that help restore a bit of faith in humanity." thread in the MP section. Told you all he was a good kid. :)

I spent about $10.00 at Goodwill on Monday, so I guess that I purchased & donated at the same time.

I donated $100 yesterday. But not to some noble cause that negatively impacts other people's lives. Or to relieve suffering. (I did donate $75 two weeks ago for the local foodbank) This time it was to a group that is building bike trails that I use and would like to see more people use. But, they need to be built, maintained, and connected.
