Anyone else use these peppers in their food.. They are crazy hot.
Scoville rating of over 1,000, 000

I love them... in moderation... the smokey flavor is fantastic

Only negative is the burn can be highly intense and last to what feels like forever haha

I try to stay away from the really hot peppers. (had a bad experience eating some out of a neighbor's garden as a kid on a dare)
Jalapenos are the hottest I like to go, but in watching episodes of Man vs Food, some of the dishes he eats look intriguing enough to overcome my fears.
I just gotta remember to bring the milk.

I like hottish food, but from what I have seen of those things they actually hurt people... I dont fancy that.

The hottest I go to is "medium-hot" on the menu at the Indian restaurant... I think that is a lot lower than one of these ghost chilli's

Presumably they call them ghost chilli's cos they turn men into ghosts... I dont call that a good enticement to eat something, the fact that its very name threatens you with death!

In their country of origin.. India.. They use the peppers as elephant repellant. :)

I prefer to hover between 50,000 to 300,000 on the scale.

Beyond that, and I'm not having much fun. It depends on the preparation and the dish, though, I suppose.

Those ghosts sound pretty crazy though. For reference, 5,000,000 gets you into pepper spray territory.

The only time I had ghost pepper was when my cousin brought over some "prototype ghost pepper jerky." I think it was the hottest thing I have ever eaten. Generally for spicy food I prefer habanero/jalapeno/sriracha.

I go for spicy taste and 'warm' but not hot enough to kill the tastes. I like adding a bit of cream to force what heat there is to 'spread out' a bit rather than 'pierce'. Except in chilli beef where I want it to 'hit' from time to time.

Habaneros are the hottest I can handle, and only when a small amount is distributed throughout the dish. I also prefer subtle spiciness and light heat, not the scorching, sinus-clearing peppers from hell. Let's just say that if they're burning on the way out, I would rather lower the intensity a notch or ten.

I can handle Habaneros and Jalapenos, that's about it. I like hot food, but if it gets spicier than habaneros, my digestive system pitches a fit which makes my bathroom become the room of choice for hours.

They terrify me. On more than one occasion, I've seen them reduce stout men and mighty warriors to tear-stained, quivering puddles of so much goo. I'm cool with hot stuff so long as I can still enjoy the flavour. But ingredients that are nothing but gratuitous pain, I stay awat from.

I watched an episode of heat seakers. They eat some hot shit. There's no way I would even try that. Just watching them sweat makes me cringe...

  12. Once, I saw someone selling them out of a van off the side of the road. I was more hesitant of the sketchy van than I was of the hotness factor.

I've still always wanted to try one though.....just not out of a sketchy van.

The heat should kill all the lingering hep-c bacteria from the sketchy van. Eat away!
