Festivals/Events Around the World

    Around the world, there are all kinds of festivals and events that draw people from all over to attend. For example, yesterday in Bunol, Spain, they held the Tomatina, which recently hit the headlines as they've decided to start charging admission to the epic tomato fight: La Tomatina: Spain's epic tomato fight now comes at a price (+video) - CSMonitor.com

    I've always wanted to go to the Tomatina. Nevermind that it will probably mean me dosing up on allergy medications beforehand and passing out from Benadryl afterward, as tomato juice and pollen gives me a rash--I think it would still be a lot of fun. If I ever went, I'd probably pay the euros to be able to ride on a truck, as it would probably be a one-time-only thing for me.

    What festival or event around the world attracts you? What would you want to go, do, or see given the opportunity? Or are you interested in the practice of something without wanting to attend?

    Popcorn Festival, Popcorn Parade Valparaiso, Indiana


    After all the hometown of Orville Redenbacher is quite the place to be, and this will be the 35th Popcorn Festival. The Gin Blossoms are headliners.

    I think it would be nice to experience the beauty of the Pingxi Lantern Festival in Taiwan. All those floating lights. I also want to be in the middle of Times Square on New Years Eve at least once in my life, and I want to go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. And even though I am told that it is not what it seems, I would like to attend the "Taste of Chicago" once.

    I love popcorn. I want to go to that!

    Also, one of these years I will make it to Obon: Bon Festival - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I don't have to go overseas for that, though, as my best friend's temple organizes a festival.
