I always used to like Pepsi, but I had this drink the other day called Ka Karibbean Kola
(I am guessing this isnt available in the US, cos you wouldnt get away with those initials over there)

Its bloody addictive though. The Indian corner shop on the way home from work sells it and I've had a bottle with my tea almost every night the last few weeks.

Anyway... do you have a favourite soft drink?

I'm also quite partial to Ginger Beer, and about the only cocktail I have on a semi regular basis (well, before this year when Ive really cut back on the amount I drink) is a dark and stormy (basically ginger beer, dark rum, squeeze of lime (or a bit of lime cordial for a lazy man like me))

I think mine has to be Big Red. It's a red cream soda that's local to Texas, as far as I know. You can get it in random places that I've found, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those niche Texas things, like Wolf chili. :)

I'm something of a diet soda(pop) connoisseur. I'm a big fan of Polar brand Birch Beer and Orange Dry.

Generally speaking, if it features artificial sweeteners, I've probably tried it. I don't drink sugared stuff.

I don't normally like cola because of its sweetness. I like the cola they make in Cuba (tuKola). If I'm not mistaken, it has less sugar (and sodium) than the average cola in North America, which is probably why I like it. They likely use real sugar as well. Of course, having some Havana Club tossed in didn't hurt.

I generally don't like soft drinks because they have about double the sugar I would prefer. If I have soft drinks, I prefer to drink them cut in half with soda water.

A couple exceptions for me include a real brewed ginger beer as opposed to the inferior ginger ale. The difference is a good ginger beer will burn on the way down and leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy when you're done drinking it.

Thanks for posting about the dark & stormy. I'll need to try that sometime. It sounds delicious.

The other exception for me regarding soft drinks is malt beverages such as Tiger Malt. I love those things. So good.

I also enjoy a cream soda if it's a quality one.

    I fixed that for you.

Baraka Guru ... I don't know it your Tiger Malt is the same as Supermalt I have in England.

I've known of Supermalt's existence for a while, but a couple of weeks ago it took me by storm, and from now on, I'll always have a stock. Especially when I realised that it makes an amazing breakfast substitute.

RC cola is my absolute favorite. Fortunately, one of my favorite restaurants serves it.

    Bear Cub Goes down smooth.

I'm a Coca Cola kind of guy, but will settle for almost any cola. They all taste the same when you put as much Crown or Sailor Jerry's in it as I do.

I'm sure Tiger Malt is similar. It's brewed in the Caribbean, so I guess it must be somewhat authentic.

They've got it in Indiana, too. It's more of a niche drink, like you said.

  16. Concerning carbonated soft drinks, I'm a Coca-Cola kinda guy, although, if you've got a non-mass marketed root beer to suggest, I'd love to try it.

Non-carbonated? Simply Lime is a winner, IMO.

Doing a bit of research on Tiger Malt. The folks over at Beer Advocate don't seem to have a very high opinion of it: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/581/11193

If I'm going to drink a soft drink (and I don't very often), I prefer ginger ale, birch beer, or root beer. Ale-8-One is also pretty good.

They have it in major grocery stores here.

  19. Seldom drink soft drinks but every once in a while a root beer sure hits the spot. Think I have some Mug in the porch fridge. Also like ginger ale.

Over the years, I've gone away from really sweet drinks.

Speaking of Coke products, anyone try Beverly at the Coke museum in Atlanta or at EPCOT?

I've cut out most soft drink-age lately...I try to drink just water & unsweetened tea...

Except I can't get away from Diet Coke. I've at least cut it down to one a day (12 ounces or less.) And okay, on the weekends, I'll drink whatever. I'll usually go (again) for the DC, but I also really like Orange Crush and root beer...the more bite, the better.

I tried some dandelion & burdock at the Highland Games, and it was delicious:
