Oh yes, there are tons of 'em. From crazy over-the-top like in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 300, and The Matrix to ridiculously fast-paced like in the Jason Bourne series, Arrow, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to lots of explosions like in The Avengers or just average brawls from Lost, there is a vast plethora of fight and action scenes out there in movies, TV shows, video games, even books.

    So what are your favorites?

Two of the most realistic fight scenes (the background noise you hear is the time machine):

Some Kind of Hero (1982). I think I have the right movie. Richard Pryor fights a bad guy (or was it two guys?).

Angel (1984). Dick Shawn, transvestite prostitute, fights a bad guy.

Unlike in most movies, in both scenes the fighting is inside fighting, "fighting in a phonebooth" as the boxing expression goes. Few or no roundhouse punches clearly thrown to be easily ducked or blocked I've never researched it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the fight scenes were choreographed by the same person.

Another favorite that the clip from Haywire reminded me of.

    #1:

They Live - Roddy Piper vs. Keith David

Legendary fight scene between Rowdy Roddy and Keith David. It's so long and tiring it's been spoofed by comedy shows.

    ...

    #2:

Predator - Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. The Hunter

Arnold's finest action role, I feel. The movie starts with badass humans slaying bodies and whittles away to the main character, broken and desperate.

    ...

    #3:

Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. Robert Patrick

My favorite fight scene of T2 is near the end with the T-800 jumps off the pickup truck onto the semi, unloads a CAR-15 into the T1000 and then jerks the tanker semi of liquid nitrogen into a jackknife. Mucho over the top.

    ...

    #4:

Heat - Robert Deniro, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore vs. Al Pacino, Misc Police

One of the most technically accurate shootouts you'll ever see in a movie, Heat went the extra mile to ensure realism. If you've ever wondered what a gunfight between professionals is like, rumor has it this is a good representation.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

The Matrix is what I thought of first.
I love when Neo is in the training program and he fights Morpheus.

John Wayne is one of those actors that somehow really sold the idea that he genuinely was a big, gruff, humourless, violent bastard guided by his own rigid but brutal moral code (in all his movies he never shot a man in the back!). Charlie Bronson the same (not that he was that big or the moral code stuff, but he always struck me as genuinely kind of quaking inside with a barely restrained urge to murder some punk with his bare hands)

Of more modern people I think also Steven Siegal. Don't get me wrong, I think all his movies are ridiculous and he must have a huge ego to demand the parts he plays are all as they are... but even now he is older and he is pretty fat, the man has fucking fast hands. He seems like he genuinely would beat the shit out of somebody who looked at him the wrong way in a bar.

Two of my favorite things: Statham and motor oil.

I was looking for one particular scene from Ip Man, but this video will do.

This is one of my favorites, too. I watch it over and over again. Just awesome.

There was one in 2LDK but I can't find it online. Pretty rad chick fight.

Another older movie, Fat City (1972), a dark movie about the ugly side of boxing. There's a scene where Stacy Keach's character wins a fight by TKO (IIRC), but he's so punchy he thinks that he lost the fight. I really need to get this movie.

I don't expect anyone here to actually watch it, as it's over an hour long when edited together, but in sum: brother against brother, serious mindfucks, and ninjas. There is amazing tension and buildup to the finale. It's my favorite fight in all of Naruto: Shippūden. When I'm sick, I rewatch it for fun.

    My second favorite:

Seriously, this episode is one of my favorites of all time. If you want to know why I love Naruto so much, this is why. Uchiha Madara gives no fucks.
