Enough Francais to be dangerous

    There's a three-syllable French phrase (ZSA-ka-DAHN) I kept hearing in Cajun/Zydeco songs, most of which don't have any text lyrics available.

    I imagined it was spelled jacques à dan. But that's not it.

    I planned to ask an attorney I know, born in France, but hadn't gotten around to it.

    But finally, this afternoon, I heard the phrase in a tune by the band Beausoleil -- "Acadian Two-Step" -- and found lyrics for it.

    It turns out that the phrase is chère catin.

    Google Translate renders it as "dear whore."

    Good thing I didn't ask her!
