Do you like to go "Camping"?

I don't mean packing up the gear and heading to the nearest mosquito filled, poison ivy laced camp ground. No, I mean the much more fun and civilized activity of sitting in front of the TV and watching old, dumb, roll-your-eyes, campy TV shows.

A few months ago. this area started to broadcast MeTV "Memorable Entertainment Television" and on Saturday nights it would show classic campy shows like the 1960's "Batman", "Lost in Space", "Star Trek" (TOS) and Svengoolie with his classic old horror movies.

Well. I found out that a few friends of mine also enjoyed this line up. So we all decided to get meet somewhere and watch this line up together. what started out as a few friends..bloomed into a whole host of people. at last weekend it was up to 18 coming over. but what really surprised me was age group of 17 to 47.

One of the younger kids called this weekly gathering "Camping" since the common draw is campy shows. leave it to the young to come up with obvious. LOL

So I was wondering, does anybody else do this sort of thing...or are we just a collection of nuts waiting to be taken away to the funny farm where every is happy and gay all day (In honor of Dr Demento)

Give me the "real" camping any day.

 

I have the attention span of a gnat. I like old campy shows; but I wouldn't sit through more than one. Get Smart would probably top my list.

I prefer mosquitoes and bears.

 

Love camping in the outdoors, one of my top fun things to do. I don't watch TV, but it sure sounds like some great fun, hmm... if there is food and drinks involved. Must add good conversations also.

 

I used to do this with a few friends, but with really bad movies instead (like MST3K) and we called it "turkey boxing"...

 

LOL, most of the time our camping trip turns into a MST experience. right to the point of throwing rubber chickens at Sven (you have to be a fan of the show to get that reference)
