    Very cool.

For some reason, my faulty memory of the solar system switches Mars and Venus, and so I always forget the latter is actually closer to the sun.

    Love the solar system.

I have an app that you can aim at the sky anywhere and it will show you what stars and constellations you are seeing.

A screencap of the Venus Transit on 5 June, 2012. This was done at 1905 PST from the NASA site that had (has as of this very minute) the live streaming webcam of the transit from the top of Mount Mauna Kea, Hawaii.

I've been told that it was during a transit of Venus in the past that Halley (the comet guy) used the transit to figure out the distances between all of the planets in our solar system (something that was first suggested by Keppler but for which we didn't have the values for distances).

    If that makes sense.

Regardless, I think stuff like this is cool.

It always seems to be cloudy/raining here when there is some celestial event of note lately.
