I have been assigned as the official Bloody Mary provider for a brunch on Saturday. While I've had my share of Bloody Marys (Maries? lol), I have not been one to make my own. We are going to have a mini-Bloody Mary bar, so I'm most concerned with the "base" ingredients. Garnishes of all sorts will be provided.

The brunch is for about 12-14 people. We may also do Mimosas, and the plan isn't necessarily to get wasted. So I'm thinking 2-3 bottles of vodka should suffice. I'm planning on bringing a bottle of Chopin, a bottle of Absolut Peppar, and possibly a cucumber or lemon infused vodka as well. I'll provide all sorts of cubed cheeses, various meats, hard-boiled eggs, veggies, etc. My plan is to provide each person with a pint glass rimmed with celery salt (if desired) and a couple shots of their vodka of choice. Then I'll have all sorts of juices, sauces, and garnishes for them to make their own Bloody Mary. However, I'd like a couple "go to" recipes for those who aren't sure how to start.

Any suggestions before I just start Googling away?

And just for fun, various times I've consumed a Bloody Mary recently:

I don't have any recipes to share, sorry. I'm the only Bloody Mary fan in my house. I approve of the beer in the last picture ;)

  4. I quit mixing my own years ago once I discovered this mix. I keep a bottle in the extra fridge, you never know when the urge to have a bloody mary will hit. I'd even put it out at a party rather than mix up one from scratch. Sounds like your party might be a bit more upscale, so I suggest pouring the mix into a glass pitcher before hand. :p

However, it is a bit on the salty side. But then again, this isn't about your health, is it?

I'm trying not to use a mix. But the more I think about it maybe it would be good to provide one mix, plus a few recipes for making their own.

To be honest, I just throw stuff in 'til it tastes good. A whole lot of hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce are very key ingredients.

This one sounds pretty good, and fairly close to what I like to make (more hot sauce and less horseradish for me, though.)

    • 1 quart V8 juice
    • 1 cup vodka
    • 1/2 cup lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
    • 3 tablespoons lime juice (about 2 small limes)
    • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 3 tablespoons prepared horseradish
    • 2 tablespoons hot sauce, preferably Crystal brand
    • 1 tablespoon olive juice, preferably from Manzanilla olives
    • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Edit: This is a four-serving mix, I forgot to mention that :)

We use Zing Zang or something like that. It's the bomb. And I'm a Bloody Mary snob.
