Best New Shows to Watch

Have not watched Almost Human: ᐱLMOST HUMᐱN, starring Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lili Taylor & Minka Kelly, a futuristic crime show but, Karl Urban!
Premiere November 4 on FOX (which scares me) and is EP'd by JJ Abrams, whose work I usually try to avoid. But KARL URBAN!

Also, the third installment of American Horror Story: Coven on FX with this cast: ANGELA BASSETT as Marie Laveau, DENIS O’HARE as Spalding, EMMA ROBERTS as Madison Montgomery, EVAN PETERS as Kyle Spencer, FRANCES CONROY as Myrtle Snow, Gabourey Sidibe as Queenie., JESSICA LANGE as Fiona Goode, KATHY BATES as Madame LaLaurie, LILY RABE as Misty Day, MARE WINNINGHAM, Patti LuPone as Joan, SARAH PAULSON as Cordelia Foxx, TAISSA FARMIGA as Zoe Benson.

AHS: COVEN is very much over-the-top but I find it entertaining and I LOVE some of the actors on it, this season Angela Bassett and Lily Rabe, in particular. EP'd by Ryan Murphy, the guy that did Nip/Tuck and Glee.


The Walking Dead on AMC with a TWD comic book geek all-new showrunner, Scott Gimple. See TWD thread on The TFP for more detail.

Boardwalk Empire on HBO because Steve Buscemi and the show is gorgeously produced.

I hate-watch the Sons Of Anarchy on FX. I hate the showrunner and his ego-maniacal view of what to do with this show. Love actors Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Jimmy Smits, Kim Coates & Tommy Flanagan.

Homeland on Showtime because I review it via Showtime and I'm obligated. It may be getting better as of episode 4 or it could continue it's downward spiral.

Watch both The Daily Show and Colbert Report on Comedy Central--switching back and forth depending on consensus.

Waiting on some January returns and pilots to air.

 

We are very much into SoA, Sleepy Hollow and AHS:Coven. I just can't wait for Almost Human, cause I love JJ Abrahms and his unique vision, plus also man-crush on Karl Urban. We enjoy Revolution, now enjoying it's second season, except everyone is a little too clean (with perfect teeth) for the new Dark Ages. We are waiting for some mid-season returns as well: Shameless, Archer, Warehouse 13, Longmire.

 

I never see new shows until they are already old shows.

 

Blacklist. James Spader is made for the role of the droll criminal mastermind turned FBI informant. We'll see if he can carry the show.

 

We saw a clip for this in the summer and had to go to IMDB to confirm that it actually was James Spader. Did he get old in a hell of a hurry, or what?

 

Just started watching American Horror Story. Into Season 2 and I am thoroughly feeling it. I now generally watch TV on netflix so I have to wait a considerable time before I can watch shows. There are shows on CW that I have been following religously like Nikita and Supernatural but those are old and have gained foothold of my fan-dom. Other shows like Vampire Diaries etc will have to wait.

 

I usually have netflix on in the background at work and listen while I write up reports. It's usually SNL, so I can giggle while I type.

 

You like Blacklist? Have you tried "House Of Cards"? Give it three episodes for runway and you will be hooked.

True Detective (HBO) 1/12/14 Premiere - Intriguing murder mystery covering a nearly 20 year span of two detectives played by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.
Helix (SyFy) 1/10/14 Premiere - Outbreak of a killer virus at the South Pole threatens humanity. Ron Moore created it. He created Battlestar Galactica. This is his first series since.
Killer Women (ABC) 1/7/14 Premiere - Stars 'Six" (and "Anders") from BSG. That is the only reason I'm taking a look as it looks terribly cheesy.
Shameless (SHO) Premiere Date: 1/12/2014 - Fun, raunchy show. Fourth season.
Almost Human (FOX) Returns Monday, January 6, 2014 @8pm on FOX for a 2-week run, then returns again on February 3. I'm trying to be patient with this show but FOX is effing with it's continuity something fierce.
American Horror Story (FX) - Returns for final four episodes of season 3 on Jan 8. If you have a taste for Grand Guignol story-telling, this show will appeal.

Thankfully, True Detective is only eight weeks long. Too much TV!

 

I'm currently into Orphan Black, Top of the Lake, Broadchurch, and Masters of Sex.
I'm so bored!

 

I would give Masters of Sex a try but I can't shake the image of the real-life Masters and Johnson as old coots making the rounds on talks shows for years . It creeped me out how enthusiastic she was and how curmudgeonly he was.
The UK-made Broadchurch was awesome (David Tennant!) and now an American version is being cast, also with David Tennant.

 

Broadchurch is the bomb. I don't know who David Tennent is, though.
Please don't hurt me. I suspect he may be a lust object like Benedetto Cummerbund. And there's no one hawt on that show.
