This is sad news. In addition to the work he did for Tibet, he also helped inform my early tastes in music.

    He will be sorely missed.

Feel free to post your favourite vids.

That sucks. I was never a big Beastie Boys fan, but you can't have gone through the '80s and not danced to "Fight For Your Right To Party," and I confess I enjoyed a couple of their other jams. MCA was a nice Jewish boy who made good, and he will be missed. I hope he's cranking righteous jams in the World To Come.

Wondered if anyone would be starting a thread about his passing. Sad to think he was cut down at 47. Fucking cancer cuts too many lives short.

    As for-

Jewish? Are you sure Levite? A Jewish person in showbiz... just doesn't sound right.

I'm surprised his death wasn't ruled sabotage.

47 is way too young. Especially for talent.

Yeah, he had another good few decades' worth of "making sure cool shit got made" in him, no matter what side he was coming from.

He was my favorite Beastie. He always struck me as an intelligent, creative, and compassionate person.

    Sad day.

He got started based on the influence of some of the punk rock greats and evolved to become an influential great himself.

    RIP MCA

This is a sad day indeed.

The Beasties have given me a lot of happiness over the years.

The Hollywood Bowl is such an awesome venue. Perfect place to do something intimate like this.

I've been refraining from commenting in this thread because I wasn't quite sure what to say. Beasties Boys were always one of my favourites. I knew he was ill, of course, but somehow this still came as a shock. I think a lot of that had to with how private he was with his illness, which was of course his right.

I dug the music, and I respected their constant drive to innovate. And of course I respected MCA's integrity and morals.

He will most certainly be missed.

If we're sharing videos, I have to add this one:
