Apple TV

  1. I drink the Kool-Aid.

I've been researching Apple TV for like six months now and I'm still up in the air about purchasing it. True it's only $100 but that's also a lot of money to spend on something that will get very limited use... like the rubber sheets I got last year. Anyway...

I like the idea of being able to stream pretty much anything from my computer or iPhone to my TV and surround sound system. It'll be nice to have Netflix (which I already have on my xBox but hate the interface) hooked up to the TV. And now with iOS5 and iCloud you can share more stuff between your devices.

We have very limited TV channels at our house. No one really watches it. And what we do watch is on Hulu or Netflixs. With the exception of sports. And if the NBA ever starts again I can watch my Denver Nuggets here in Florida. And every single college basketball game. Leave me alone in March. I have things to do.

Anyway... Anyone have Apple TV or used it in the past? Thoughts? Pros? Cons?

I am an Apple convert now. But, I want something that could get over-the-air channels as well. I use two EyeTV tuners now on my Mac, and it works pretty good. I have hooked up my Mac to all three TVs and projector that I use (all at the same time), plus I have it hooked up to speakers throughout my house. iTunes has some stuff that I have downloaded, but it is true that my movies and old saved TV shows are not well organized at all. Some are still on my Linux system that tried to copy the 1st Apple TV, but with a TV Tuner built in.

I don't see this AppleTV helping me do anything but send them money to rent or digitally download movies.

I plan on getting an AppleTV, jailbreaking it, and installing XMBC. 1080p content + streaming from my NAS setup.
