All men should be able to do this

For the record, Sir Patrick Stewart is totally heterosexual.

But he should still be able to kiss his gay best friend without the world going into to a furor. Hell, men should be able to kiss any of their friends without the world going into a furor.

As an Sirs Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart fan, I love this picture on so many levels. First, obviously, is my dude-on-dude fantasy brain. Yeeeeah. Second is that this is a beautiful picture of friends kissing each other. Good on them. I like kissing my friends, too. Third, holy shit they're still handsome at 70-something. God, I hope I'm like that. God, I hope I'm still kissing people that age. God, Patrick Stewart's wife is barely older than I am. WHY IS THE WORLD SO UNFAIR.

But seriously. I love this picture for everything and anything it says. It satisfies several of my fangirl fantasies, for sure.

    It's funny to see...but it's not me.

But if it's cool for you, then go for it.

I so love these two men.
Going out and having a drunken evening with them would be a dream come true.
When I was in high school, the guys in drama class would kiss to freak out the the rest of the school.
A couple of the guys were gay and it was the straight guys way of fucking with the jocks so if they picked on one , they had to pick on us all (and there were a couple of us who were into martial arts and carried knives -- fuck Glee).

I love those guys also. They're awesomeness.

That said, there are cultures where straight dudes kiss each other on the mouth. America's not one of them. If some straight dudes feel like doing it, great. But I don't see any reason why straight dudes who don't feel inclined to do so are more homophobic or less gay-supportive.

FTR, I did a couple of scenes in acting studio workshops that required me to kiss a guy. The character was gay, I was an actor: I kissed the guy, made it believable (believable as hell, BTW), didn't have any squick or squirrelly feelings about it. That was the job. I suppose if I had a proximate reason, like maybe doing it at a Westboro Baptist Church protest, to piss them off, I would do it gladly. But not just for shits and giggles, because I don't enjoy kissing dudes. And I am a big believer in the idea that kissing should be enjoyable unless extenuating circumstances demand otherwise.

Which is something my relatives and friends from other cultures don't necessarily understand or get, especially since we seem to hug freely in their eyes, which is something they see as intimate.

One of my best friends kisses his dad and his brother on the lips when they see each other. They are all big, burly blue collar guys, they were just raised to be very affectionate. I have no issue with it, but I'll still choose to hug my dad and brother when we see each other.

I will say that when I'm with my buddies and their dad at deer camp and we all meet at some dive bar the night before, they get some interesting looks when they walk in and kiss each other in front of 100 rural IL hunters. :p

I've kissed guys. It was fine. I just don't like beard stubble. I don't know how girls put up with it.

I don't see why that image should bother people.

First and foremost, whatever the kiss doesn't mean or does mean is none of their business.

Second, McKellan & Stewart have been friends for decades. They've discussed their friendship and McKellan's homosexuality in interviews. Apparently to them it's no more of a big deal than one of them preferring coffee while the other prefers tea.

Yes, I know that the coffee/tea comparison is a lame British reference.

Maybe the Patrick Stewart from Excalibur. He looks like James Carville there.

I'm pretty sure Ian McKellan would not appreciate me trying to do that. Or Patrick Stewart. One or the other.

I'm finding the smile on the lady behind them extraordinarily creepy. Even more so because it's easy to miss at first.

I don't think every man need be comfortable kissing another man, anymore than every woman need be comfortable kissing another woman; nor do I think women must be comfortable kissing men, or men kissing women, for that matter.

I do strongly believe that it's nobody's business who kisses whom but the people doing the kissing.

I would imagine that two very practiced and accomplished actors would be pretty blasé about something so small as a kiss. As @Levite notes this sort of thing is pretty much de rigeur if that's the profession you chose.

The bromance of Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart is pretty heartwarming. That much is undeniable.

I saw this photo in the paper, but did not see that the world went all wacky over it. I figure that within the limits of the law, peeps should do whatever makes them happy.

And on a somewhat related note, I would totally make out with Charlatan…..:D

Not a touchy, feely, kissy kind of guy to start with, but don't want to kiss dudes. But, whatever works for you is fine by me. It does not offend me to see it.

I like both of these guys as actors, but I will never get used to seeing two men kissing. Now that the media has jumped on the gay parade bandwagon, it seems like every TV show has to have their token "bromance" with dudes kissing. You know, I really don't care what people do in their own homes, but I honestly don't like having it shoved down my throat in MY home.
