A vote against the library, is like a vote to burn books

  1. This may be the most GENIUS campaign I have ever seen....

It's an election year. How is social media helping or hindering the campaigns?

Well this is what comes to mind first.
"In a symbolic act of ominous significance, on 10 May 1933, the students burned upwards of 25,000 volumes of "un-German" books, presaging an era of state censorship and control of culture." Scary...

Next is "okay this is a cause to keep a library open."
We actually had this happen in our town, but what happened was the town pulled together and raised enough money to keep the library open and even raised enough to improve and buy new computers. No taxes were raised because of this.
People can make a big difference in these type of situations. I support our library and use it often, we also have a summer long raffle this year to win an Ipad. So far we raised $2500.00. Some times you don't need the media to make good things happen, and it's great when no one is to blame. Everyone jumps in to help.

Another issue is, I would have to know what is the tax base in this town, how many people live there. The population makes a difference on 0.7 increase. How much does that actually bring into the town, how much will be used on the Library or dispersed to other needs.
What is the population in relation to age, retired or working.
There are many variables in these type of situations that are important to keep an open mind to; gather all the facts and than an opinion.

People should be more informed about what the local politicians are doing. I watched the video, and they used some well placed propaganda to get the masses motivated. Although, they should have had this vote in November. There needs to be fewer, but 2 regular voting days a year. One during the primaries, one in November. Schools, cities, counties, and state issues need to get their act together to vote on those days. And most issues should be voted on by a majority of the citizens.
