A rapid change

    I apologize for being absent. Over the years I've been here off and on. Seen a lot of changes in my life. 3 yrs ago my ex took off to Michigan with our 5 kids. Left me for someone else. I had to do the weekend dad thing for 3 yrs. just this week child protection services show up at my work place and tell me my ex lost custody due to various reasons and wanted to know if I wanted the children. I stood there in shock. Then said. Yes. Um. Did they think I wouldn't take them? These kids are my life. So I bought a trailer I got a better job and these kids are stable for the first time in 3yrs. My depression is going away finally as well

    5 kids, it sounds like you have a good handle on this.
    It will be a big adjustment for them, so be aware and listen to them in how they speak and act.
    If you have concerns, deal with them as quickly as you can.
