160 million women missing in the world

These girls/women should have been born, but they were aborted mostly in Asia due to population planning. Boys are preferred, hence not everyone will find a spouse and this growing group of unmarried men will lead to more problems also in the future.

Normally, when 100 girls are born, the number of baby boys is 104-106. In India and Vietnam, 112 boys are born per 100 girls, in China 120, in some regions even 130. Also in Azerbaizhan, Georgia and Armenia the numbers are bigger than 115.

Theoretically speaking you could think women have now more freedom to choose their spouses, but in reality this situation results in more rape cases and selling humans. Currently in India a woman may have to consent to a sexual relationship also with her husband's unmarried brothers.

It was also in the news, world population will exceed 7 billion today.

How to help the women (and the men) in this situation?

therolettically the only way to fix it is to plan the sex of the children.

I have other suggestions as well:

    • build FemBots for lonely men
    • legalize prostitution and make it profitable and acceptable occupation
    • "turn" more men gay

This is partially said tongue in cheek, but still sounds better than aborting boys as countermeasure.

I'm curious - where are you getting this information?

  5. Yeah. I little documentation would be nice.

You need to give us English-language links if you expect to generate a discussion. Right now this thread kind of sucks. As the OP, it's your job to fix it.

    *Fixed and reported the changes.*

As a sidenote in the articles there is also reference to the possible security threat these male dominated societies might pose to West in future.

I did edit my post #6 with English-language links, but I can't edit the OP anymore. I have reported the post and asked staff to edit the first post. Not in my hands anymore. ;)

The articles also mention, this topic needs to get more publicity immediately and they need to focus on educating women more, so that they will be better aware of their options, know to make their own decisions and defend themselves against abusers. I'm suspicious though, how will they succeed in this. One child policy has been in effect in China since 1979. The situation is gradually getting worse.

Do you think this is a major concern for women in Asia?

Since you edited the later post to include the links, no need to edit the first one. That's just superfluous. Thanks for giving us the information. I'm still letting it percolate in my noggin.

It seems to me that the social constructs making men more valuable to a family are the real culprits here. We can't 'fix' the worth of physical labor (if that's a contributing factor in a lower class household), but I'm sure that's not the only factor here.

There might be a slight bias towards more boys, but not at the numbers China and India are seeing.

So, what to do about it. Either promote females and give them more power. If they are like US girls, they should realize that they are worth a lot more as a spouse because they are rare. Or more porn and promoting the single man.

Plus some other stuff, but I have to go to work now....but this will be a big issue for the next few decades. Hopefully they don't start ordering mail order brides from an economically shattered US...

These men should marry abroad to help the population overgrowth, not order briders to their countries. This could even make the biggest reality tv-show ever.

Unfortunately I don't really think this is a valid solution. I mean I don't think you can tell all these people what they should do with their lives, but on the other hand they might get to the conclusion that migration is the best solution

Making this option better available could be part of the solution. We seem to generally accept the idea, that Western world bachelors seek brides from Thailand and Philippines for example. Why wouldn't it work the other way.

The problem is that people have been planning the sex of the children, favoring males. Aborting, or murdering female children. ( I do make the distinction ). It is a recipe for disaster.

Still not reading the whole thread before posting... I'll learn one day
