The Effects Of Reducing The Barrel Length On Velocity And Accuracy

Found a really cool website where some guys ran their own tests, and thought it deserved it's own, new thread.
The Effects Of Reducing The Barrel Length On Velocity And Accuracy In The 223 Remington
(scroll to bottom for link to check out rest of site)

As most of you know I'm about to buy a pistol and barrel length has caught my curiosity. Anyone have their own experience to share?

Anyone get that chart? Specifically what "2771 – 0.628" means? Or why the powder changes?

Ok, the 2771 is the Muzzle Velocity of the Bullet, and 0.628 is the size of the group, in inches, at a hundred yards (most likely).

They are changing brands of powder and the amount to change not only the final velocity of the bullet, but also the pressure curve while it is leaving the barrel. Fast burning powders will spike the pressure very quickly, while slower powders will have a smoother curve. Somewhere between the extremes is the optimal pressure curve to achieve a desired velocity.
