Crazy

Black Friday Circuit City Acer Laptop

So I managed to pick one up, and the screen looks really grainy. Its supposed to have a truebright screen... did anyone else get one and notice this? Should I expect this from a laptop? When I say grainy, I mean I can see patterns in the background of settings Windows, backgrounds look jagged, DVDs don't look vivid or clear...

I have tried adjusting the gamma etc on the screen and the brightness, to no avail.

check your resolution. If an LCD isn't in its "native" resolution it can look really crappy.

Is this one of the Aspire 3613 LCi's? I picked one up at Staples this morning for my niece. Got home before realizing it's the 1024x768 display. The next model up has a 1280x800 display.

As the guys said, try 1024x768 & see if it isn't better.

The staples LCi was $450. A good basic machine but fighting for it? I was almost fighting to get _out_ of the place. Crowded stores. Argh.
