I have a 6600 gt PCI-E and it works fine. I run all my games at about the same settings as you and its smoothe. I know the Geforce 6800 gt is quite a bit better, but I'm not so sure about the 6800 and im too lazy to look up reviews right now.
Basically, 6600 gt is a safe bet, but I would probably wait until the price goes down. Should have a new line of graphics cards on the market in about 4-6 months. |

Well it's possible to unlock the pipelines on some 6800's to get full 6800gt cores (but of course you will still only have 128 megs of RAM). If you go to www.newegg.com you can read the reviews of people who have successfully accomplished unlocking the pipelines from 12 to 16.

Excellent resource, will have reviews of the cards your considering, and probably side by side as well. |

Neither one is far from the other performance-wise. The 6800 is definitely a better card, but it's better by around $25.

Next question, is which 6600GT do I want? What brands are good? Links to specific cheap ones? Quiet ones are preferred! Thanks ![]() |
