Browse to your router's address.
Click the advanced tab. (top right) Click the forwarding tab. |
uhh...I don't have a forwarding tab anywhere that I can find
|
Not in the advanced section? You do have an advanced tab, no?
What model & firmware version are you using? Firmware version is shown in the Status tab. |
model # BEFSR41
firmware 1.04.17, Nov 26 2003 I do have an a Advanced Routing tab in the Setup tab, but cannot find a forwarding tab or setting anywhere kevin |
Current version is 1.05.00. I don't remember the arrangement of earlier versions. Forwarding should be there, but if you're going to be using P2P you should start by updating the firmware anyway. They've fixed quite a few bugs that affected security and the maximum number of connections. P2P clients use lots of connections.
The download page is here: http://www.linksys.com/download/firmware.asp?fwid=183 If you've configured anything interesting it's helpful to write down your settings before the upgrade. |
cool....i've updated the firmware. I have also setup Port forwarding for 6881 using TCP protocol. Still have NAT errors using Azureus

Got it.....I had to forward to the correct IP.....thanks for the help cyrnel
now just need to find torrent sites that are still up! kevin |
I would tell you to change your ports, because many ISPs block 6881-6889 by default. Remember though, with BT you need to forward a range of ports because each torrent uses a port.
Use something like 10500-10510. Most bittorrent clients allow you to change your port within the program. If it doesn't, then you should use another BT client. I suggest Azureus found at http://azureus.sourceforge.net. |
