Playstation 2 and Burnt DVDs
I just got a Plextor PX-716A DL DVD±R. I have a pack of DVD-R's, and a couple of DVD image files that I made with DVD shrink. I burnt a couple of them with the Roxio software that came with it but none of them work on my Playstation 2. How can I be sure that from now on the DVDs that I back up will work?

PS2 may or may not read all DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs. Try a burning on a DVD+R, ditch Roxio, use Nero or something. I never liked any of the Easy CD Creator versions, they produced more coasters than I could count.

Playstation 2 will read some/most of the DVD's you burn. I did find out that my XBOX has a higher success rate at playing burned DVD's. Just something to think about.

Didn't PS2's need to be modded to play burned discs?
|
Yes, it needs to be modded.
I also use Nero and Alcohol 120%. The Playstation 2 I have is a V4 this one can play -R and +R DVD's. |
I am another one that will suggest Nero. Use DVDDecrypter to get the dvd onto your computer, then use NERO Recode, to put the movie back on your DVD+R. I have had no issues what so ever. It's very user friendly also.

I just started using Nero after using Creator 5 previously. Nero seems to be alot more stable.

v4 (SCPH-30000 and on) PS2's and on should support DVD -/+ R. If you have an earlier version PS2, buy a first party (Sony brand) PS2 DVD remote control. The IR reciever you plug into the controller port will update the DVD firmware/drivers.

CloneDVD made +R w/o bitsetting played fine on my unmodded PS2.
