Learn me about Smart Cards?
Alright, my gf's computer has been giving her fits for the past few weeks and finally last week took a dump on her. So, being the wonderful person I am I agree to take a look at it for her, even though I probably won't be able to figure anything out (she just knows I know more than she does). But upon starting her machine she gets a message that says:
"MICROSOFT SMART CARD SYSTEM. Com Responder could not virtualize connection file. There is not enough space on the disk." And you have the option to click "OK". Then after clicking she gets another message: "Com responder failed to start" And again the option to click "OK". But after clicking "OK" nothing happens. It just goes to a blank wallpaper screen and I can't get anything to come up. It seems there is a problem with the SMART CARD SYSTEM from the messages (I could atleast figure that out on my own). But I don't understand what it's for. Can I just disable it somehow and not effect the system or is this something that needs to run? I'm sure what the Smart Card is for in a home PC. I can see how it would have a number of applications for a business, but at home? Can someone educate me? |
There's the smart cade authentication in network settings. Chek see if anyone has dicked around with that.
Don't need it tbh. Smart card authentication is used with a device to authenticate users on more secure systems. |
Thanks. Once I am able to actually get to the network settings I'll check that out.

Well the message says "There is not enough space on the disk". I've never messed with a system that had this "Smart Card" thing in it before, but sounds like either your hard drive or the Smart Card are full.
