Wireless encryption NOT being saved

I have a wireless network setup at home with 3 laptops all connected. @ are using Win 2k and the 3rd is using XP. All laptops are able to connect onto the network using the encryption that has been set up but on one of the laptops I have to enter the encryption code everytime I boot up the laptop. After booting up the laptop and entering the encryption code I am able to hook onto the network but as soon as I reboot it, it is gone again. The laptop is using Win 2k and it has a Linksys card attached. One of the other laptops is also running Win @k but it is using an SMC card and the laptop with XP uses its own built in wireless adaptor.
I have tried every configuration possible but still, everytime I boot up the one laptop I need to re-enter the encryption code. This laptop belongs to my spouse's company so I am thinking there might be some conflict or security function that causes this setting to become erased on startup.
Any ideas would be great. Thx.

If it belongs to her company, it is possible there is some policy set on there that forces the laptop to require an encryption key on every startup. You might have her ask the Admins at her company if there is a group policy set on the laptop.

Also, are you controlling the linksys card settings with the Linksys program or with Win2k? If with the linksys program, you might try reinstalling the software. If it's win2k controlling it (if win2k can control it), then Windows might just be flaking out and a reinstall of windows might be beneficial.

Specifically what wireless encryption are you using?

I'm presuming plain old WEP, as Win2K does not natively support WPA without 3rd party supplicant software. Of course, you could be using the client software that came with the Linksys card.

I'm unaware of any settings in Win2K that would prevent you saving the WEP key. This sounds unusual.
