IE 6 problem when opening

The error message is "error in protocol.cocreateinstance"
It's driving me mad, and I don't want to format and reinstall.
Reinstalling IE did not work, nor the "solutions" I have found on the web so far. Have not installed XP sP2 yet. Any ideas?

Since it's bound to come up anyways, I'd suggest that you try firefox! Up until about 2 months ago, I believed IE was the best. I knew my way around IE, and I didnt *want* to change to another browser. Long story short, Firefox is my new love.

If you've already made up your mind to be IE only, than excuse this post.

Disable 3rd party browser extensions
