Friends Computer FUBARed
Hey Guys, a friend of mine at work has been having some serious problems with the comp. He has 2 kids, ages 6 and 9. Well he kids are too young to look at porn and are right at that age where the like little kid games, so they went to these sites where you can download free games from (im not sure of the names) and attached to all these games were virus' that installed pornography onto the computer (what kind of a sick fuck does this with kids games?!). Now aparently porn pops up constantly on the computer and it runs super slow and aparently many aspects of the computer (such as @shaw email) are no longer working. Now the kids are also too young to be looking at hot naked women and subsequently have to be blocked from using he computer until problem is fixed.
I believe my friend mentioned something about a virus called bloodhound or hound something or other, and I was just wondering if any of you guys have run into similar problems and if you know how to fix them. Any help at all would be greatly apreciated, thanks alot |

First off, get an anti-virus software, Norton or McAfee.
Second off, get some spyware programs, Ad-aware and Spybot. Thirdly, download Mozilla or a really strong popup blocker. You might want to just reformat the computer and then install the above programs and then limit the kids accounts so they re unable to download and then personally download safe games that they can play.

Don't forget to also run through a free a/v scan http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and also update patches when you are done cleaning/reinstalling the system.

Some spyware now are very volatile and it sounds like you may have an issue with startup. Got a copy of Hijack This and take any startup strings that seem to not be needed (ex. Zoombar, XXX!!, etc..)
