Emulator questions
Hey all,
I used to be heavily involved with emulators and ROMs on my PC back in the day (um like a few years ago :p ) and I have since not done much with them. I was wondering, as of right now, what are the most widely used emulators for NES, SNES, and Genesis? I used to use NESticle, SNES9x, and I forget the one for Genesis. Also, are there any emulators, plug ins, or side programs that allow you to capture movies, or at least screenshots, from within an emulated game? Thanks a bunch. |
ZSNES is, by far, the best SNES emulator. I use VisualBoy Advance for GameBoy/GameBoy Advance. For Sega Genesis I use Kega or KGen.

Nesticle is horribly outdated now. For NES emulation, you are better off with FCE Ultra (which i use) or NNNesterJ (which everyone else seems to recommend).

For Genesis, I like Gens.

there's a great program that can read the sound and music files from within the older (read: the ones that don't have the newer encryptions) MVS roms, it's called Neojuke i think. not exactly what you are looking for, but it works great.
i know that Neoragex can capture screenshots, and i think emulators like Nebula and MAME can do movie captures. |
for NES I use Jnes which always seems to run anything. I use VisualBoyAdvance for GBA and GBC freeware demos. I also use Gens for Genesis, Zsnes for SNES, and ePSXe for Playstation.
