Ram installation crash.

Ok, i am by no means technologically challenged. During a ram installation something must have happened that caused my computer to stop booting up at all.

I did mess up once during the installation, I didnt push the ram in all of the way, on either chip (i took out the other chip to make sure they were the same). The computer just didnt boot up at all.

Then, in order to put the ram in all of the way, it required the removal of my IDE cables. I put my IDE cables back in the same places, replaced all of the power cables and still nothing.

I get no blinking lights, no beeps, nothing at all.

My brother repairs computers, but he lives in AZ. So just post if you have had a similar situation, any experience with this problem, or suggestions as to what I can test, or hook up, or detach to find the problem.

First check the ram for any marks on the contacts, if one of them is blackened the ram is burnt. If not, try to test it in another computer to see if it works.

If you don't have another computer handy, first try taking out all unnessecary pci cards, hard drives, and cd drives (in fact, if you are not even getting to the bios, just yank all the hard drives out. the bios should complain if you ever get booted into it).

Apart from that, try booting w/o the ram and see if the same problem occurs. And if all else fails, unscrew everything in sight (including the motherboard), sleep on it for a day (not on the hardware itself) and put it back together after you are not tired. annoyed, ancy, or high. You won't know what was wrong in the first place with this method, but it sometimes works.

remove the ram and turn it on, if it does not make any activity , you may have fried the Mother Board or Power supply
