I ordered mine this morning so I'm definately hoping.

I wonder if you have to actually be an IT worker, or just a linux enthusiast/supporter like myself to get this. I'm pissed though, I just bought the 9.1 personal edition, and I could have had the pro version for free.

Heh, I'll tell ya in a couple weeks when I hopefully get it...Hopefully it'll come in before the 15th, my b-day :p

Wow, great find. I hope they actually send it out. I'm wary that they may call first to confirm the creative info I supplied before sending it out. SuSE 9.1 Pro on DVD would be nice at that price.

I just got the confirmation email, hopefully they will get it to me. Awesome find Fallon, Suse has always been my favorite "mainstream" distro.

A guy from www.3dgpu.com got his a couple of days ago. 3 DVDs, one with SUSE 9.1 Pro. They were marked for evaluation only, but there were no time limits or other kinds of crippliing.

SUSE Pro is $79 on Amazon. Sweet deal to get it for free. Of course, the full-retail box probably has much more in it. But then again, being a DVD, the free one might be pretty much complete.

I read on slickdeals that the only difference between the normal Suse Pro and this offer is that instead of 3 CDs, it's 1 DVD. Plus you get the other CDs with the server and desktop stuff on it.

I got the email as well.. I wonder what the "yet-to-be-announced" product is...

Has anybody got any word yet on when this will ship? I know I shouldn't bitch about free stuff, but the last week of July has come and gone, and I haven't received any updates on this.

Haven't heard a thing yet. I'm still waiting though and trying to figure out how I'm going to get it off of a DVD when I don't have a DVD drive for my comp...

Oh well.

No updates here either. Amazingly, I do have faith they'll eventually ship it to me... unlike a certain Guinness Bar Towel I signed up for a couple years ago (and still hasn't come) hehe.

Got it in, just need to find a DVD drive....

Well I just got this e-mail today:

Looks like they should be arriving by the end of this month for those of us who haven't gotten ours yet. Now I need to put together a system to install this on.

1) I too got that e-mail and 2) deja vu! I swear I've read westothemax's post before, and I seem to remember something bad happening, like I never got mine or something. heh - obviously it's a total coincidence caused by....whatever deja vu is caused by. Still pretty funny though.

I'm looking forward to my Linux bundle! :)

I got an email saying it was sent.. but it'd take 6-8 weeks to send overseas. Still, cool.

I still havn't gotten mine - no emails since the confirmation that we were getting it, either.

I'm getting impatient as I really want to install suse pro on my laptop. :(

I managed to get an order in a few days ago, and they said they'd ship it - but I've got no idea how long it'll take.

Wow, i had no idea how lucky I was to sign up in the time from when jakejake said that they were taking oreders again and yotta said that they stopped.

Hopefully they will offer it again to the people who missed out this time.

I just got mine this week. Took over two months to get it, but the price was right.

I got mine in the mail today. guess who is rebuilding a box tonight.

I set mine up on a second HDD, works fine. I wish more software came on DVDs.

I ordered one and got it within a couple of weeks. Now on to the next question, I know nothing about Linux and just thought this would be something interesting to have, I do have an old Dell server sitting here 933proc 128ram dual 10gig SCSI drives DAT etc. Could I use this as a test system with any of the software that came with that kit to learn any nix or are these programs not beginner friendly?

SuSE is very beginner friendly. The SuSE 9.1 disk you received is a DVD bootable disk. if you don't have a DVD drive in that computer, go to http://www.linuxiso.org/ and download via FTP.

I got mine in the mail yesterday - but I don't really have a use for it at the moment. Maybe I'll load a virtual machine on my server with it to play around. :D
