IRC trouble. (XP Pro)
 

I'm having trouble connecting to IRC since I formatted and installed windows xp professional. It just doesn't connect, and shouldn't be my connection. I can browse the internet and download City of Heroes, so that works. The downstairs computer connects just fine too. Maybe I've got a setting effed up?

I'm using my dad's copy, same key as well. I don't know if that's trouble or not (I don't think so, probably would have stopped me at activation if so) but just throwing it out there.

I've tried plugging my ethernet cable into different ports, rebooting the modem, trying different irc servers, DMZ'ing, poking holes in my router, yelling at it. It's not responding to me.

Make it work please.

What exactly is the problem? Could it be that the IRC server is attempting to connect to your computer for the identd service, and is being blocked by the firewall? Do you have any other firewalls going? (sounds like you have a NAT setup or similar)

Bersirc couldn't connect to any irc servers. It now works with mIRC, thought bersirc is still borked.

bersirc? i havent even heard of it...
