Nice Acrylic Case

I saw this guy's page on another forum (a computer forum). Check it: http://www.xs4all.nl/~rccheng/

Isn't that the coolest computer you've ever seen? Scroll down and check out ALL of the pictures. It's truly amazing. Very inspiring.

when it starts to get bright and obnoxious (cold cathodes are really bad for acrylic cases). This person used a method of putting the LEDs INSIDE the plexiglass, so it glows, but you don't actually see a gaudy cathode laying in there that hurts your eyes

The matrix Orbital on there is awesome as shit, too bad they're all super-expensive (by college standards).

So, would you consider this art, or no?

Defining art is always fun... And sometimes leads to good discussion.

Yeah, I'd say it's a form of art. It's sorta of an expression of emotion relating to usage of lights, fans, wires, and other elements. I mean, when you take modding this far, it's definitely beyond the needs of heat dissipation or anything like that, it's gotta be an art.

I have the Xoxide X-Clear. You can find it at www.xoxide.com. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the quality of the parts and the difficulty of the assembly. Royal pain in the ass. The worst part: It didn't have a motherboard rack. In other words, the mobo bolted straight to the back of the case. In other words, to put in a HD or 5 1/4 device or 3 1/2 device, you had to take the back panel off. Including the motherboard. Including taking out the PCI cards. Including unhooking the cables. For ever fucking little expansion. I hate that case.

Yeah, that case is a major payne. I witnessed him put that bitch together. 4 and 1/2 hours. That's a long ass time to just put a system together. Too much work. Too much time spent.

We've got a blue acrylic case on our media pc with a three blue LCD fans. It looks pretty eye-catching sitting next to the TV! It's not that expensive to get one, and it wasn't that hard to put together, either.

that's just it - you can't I had to take the thing apart and clean the dust out. the cans of dust wouldn't reach/wouldn't blow the dust out to my requirements. see the above post on why taking apart the case wasn't a good idea.

The beauty of the acrylic XCcube is the ease of set up and cool, quiet running. The top lifts off with the drive bays. I installed mine with 2 hdd and a dvd-rw (no floppy). It took about 10 minutes to install the cpu (amd) with the heatsink and fan. The mobo is built in, and has the nForce2 chipset. Checkout the included features. This has been on all day, only one fan, the heatsink, and my fan is running at about 2400 rpm, temp at cpu is 50c, system 40c. I'll take it!

PS- This is a mini-case. If you are a serious gamer, it may not meet your needs. But for the size and my needs? Perfect.

I like it for the most part. The wires are clean and they layout is well done, paticularly in light of the custom work.

I do think this is art and I like how it requires expertise in multiple areas. I will say that I think the colors are out of whack. One color would look good, but the fact that there are at least 4 different colors make it look too busy.

I think the multitude of colors look awesome. that's what gives it the "holy crap look at that" feeling. just the single colors look good too. like the blue. gives a "cold" feeling.

Very cool case. From looking at the pictures it seems like they can change the color of light in the case. The set up just looks very thought out and well done. Definately art.
