Saving games to hard drive?
Is it possible to save a game to my HD so don't have to put the disk in. It's just a word game, no huge graphic's or anything.
Thanks in advance. |
Does the game run from the CD or does it require the CD rom to play after its installed?
|
It won't play unless the disc is in my machine, is there any way around this?
|
The only way I know is to use a no-cd patch. Forgive me if that isn't that proper name I have never used them. You could probably download them off a lot of different places
|
get a virtual drive program
|
The best way would be to get a virtual drive program. It takes an image of the cd your game is on and makes the computer think that the image file on your hard drive is really a cd-rom drive.
Failing that, goto www.astalavista.box.sk and look for a no-cd patch. As long as you have the original cd everything's good, otherwise you'll be breaking copyright laws :-/ |
another site to check for a no-cd patch... www.gamecopyworld.com
|
Make an image of the CD (there is plenty of software out there to do this), then use a drive emulator (I use Daemon Tools), and mount it up. The computer thinks that it is a cd.
Or yeah, try to find a no-cd patch. |
Here's a vote for the NoCD patches.
I don't like having entire drive letters just for games. |
http://megagames.com/ also has some no-cd cracks, but gamecopyworld is by far the best :)
|
NoCD cracks work pretty well.
If you wan't to take the image route use CloneCD/Alcohol %120 to rip and Deamon tools to mount. |
for most games you can find no-cd software so that you dont have to put the cd in every time you play
|
Alcohol 120% is another option for a virtual drive program.
|
nocd crack is the way to go
