Plasma or LCD TV's

Anyone here ever hooked their computer up to a Plasma or LCD TV display. Just wondering how good it looks. I'm talking like a 42" or larger. I'm sure games look good, but is text legible and all. I think it would be sweet as hell to have a setup lie that. If any of you do, I'd love to see some pics.

My friend has his hooked up to a 42" plasma and it is awesome. I would recommend it. I have a 22" LCD hooked up to mine and it is great. I would prefer to have the plasma though.

I'd go with the LCD if your going to use it as a desktop monitor. Plasma's will burn in images if a still image is left on the screen too long.

i heard this on tv... so dont trust it fully... fucking media.

LCD lasts longer but is more expensive. Plasma breaks easily and doesn't last as long.

my laptop uses LCD and i love it... id go with LCD if you have the cash!

LCD..
I work with both all day and plasmas have a greater viewing range, but are fragile as hell.. plus HELLA expensive.

The consumer grade ones arent soo bad (we use industrial displays and the 42 inchers are 12k a pop) but it's still too much to watch cable or anything on.
Also you have to worry about burnion on plasmas with station ID's it takes about 10-20 minutes or so to ruin a plasma screen.

I'm no expert on LCD or Plasma, but I also seem to keep hearing that LCD lasts longer than Plasma. I guess Plasma degrades and starts to lose it's color? I've never seen a computer hooked into either though.

you CAN hook a pc into a plasma screen, but i would HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT.
the time you can have a static image on a plasma is about 10-20 minutes before burn in.. leave your dektop on and go take a dump, you just threw away a couple of grand.

I think LCD will win over plasma in the long run. It's a proven technology, works well. It just needs to keep getting cheaper to make large screens affordable for more of us -- and I think it will.

On the other hand, I read that Intel has come up with a new chip that lets you make a projection TV that's no more than six-inches deep. I don't know about the image quality on projection TVs these days, but I know that they're big, and a lot cheaper than plasma.

Well, lets not forget LCOS. Liquid Crystal on Silicon will likely sell even more than plaasma or LCD because it is cheaper to produce, and easily has the same or better picture. Philips just released theirs...go see it. Philips is working with some Asian companies to develop it. And yes, this is the same chip that Intel is intending to perfect.

I didn't know you could even get LCDs that big, but I'd choose it if I could. Imo LCDs already have a good enough resolution, higher resolutions wouldn't work too well for lots of websites. Isn't Organic Light Display or something like that another promising technology that creates a lot brighter cheaper displays in development by a few companies?
