Unattended install of XP incl drivers, fixes and all!
This is soo cool! I saw a question about this in here but it was an older thread so I'll start a new one.
This allows you to create a CD (CD-RW or DVD-RW preferably) that unattendedly installs XP including your name, product key, timezone and regional settings followed by silently installing all your favourite applications along with DirectX 9.0b, .Net Framework 1.1 and then all the Pre-SP2 hotfixes, updated drivers, registry tweaks without any user interaction whatsoever. Useful? YOU BET! Drawback? It's NOT easy. The hard part is to get all your drivers like RAID drivers to install properly. And it takes alot of script hacking. But alot of people have succeeded and I will sure give it a go myself soon. A ghost image may be easier but hardly cooler... Take a look at this guide: http://www.msfn.org/unattended/xp/index.htm And in this thread you can learn from the experienced: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showth...threadid=53821 The thread at abxzone is valuable since it gives alot of great links and examples, and an insight to the difficulties. I think it is fantastic... got to try |
This is how the vast majority of windows installs are done. The OEMs (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc) all do unattended or image based installs.

Not just Windows either. All OS's have a means of doing things like this.
