too much to learn!
 

Ever feel there is too much to learn?

I would love to learn more about these languages and things but I just don't have enough time.

somethings I know a good deal of, somethings I know a little of...

I want to learn more PHP, asp/vb, linux, mysql, C++, etc. I just don't have enough time!!!!!

That's just what attracted me to computers in the first place... there is always something new. Although at times it can be pretty annoying... you always have to be on top of every latest development.

Take one thing at a time. Pick one area you want to focus on and just work at that. The rest will come.

The nice thing about programming is that the main differences in languages are just the syntax and some of the built-in classes and functions. Once you learn two or three languages, the rest are very easy to pick up, because the concepts pretty much carry on from language to language. There are exceptions, but it gets easier with time.

Don't think of it as, "There's too much to learn. I can't learn it all!" Think, "I want to learn this one thing and see where things go from there."

I feel the same sometimes, but more in a "oh my lord its a long road to where I want to be"

I am taking the Cisco Systems training thing (self learning), and I am ready for my CCNA (Cisco certified Network associate), and my plan is the CCDP (Cisco certified design professional), but its a long long road with many exams

Hey, my overall goal is to get my CCIE, but I'm starting small, teaching myself CCNA, and I have no doubt that in a few years, I'll have CCIE.

It's just a matter of convincing yourself to only concentrate on what's at hand, and you can do some pretty wild stuff.

I know, how about you start with one; finish that; start with the next one; finish that; start with the next one; etc.

The key is to start. Sounds like you've got a case of the procrastination bug

yes, but i feel that way about everything. in a good, i'm curious about the world way :)

The first language I learned featured commands such as goto, gosub, if, then......

I left the field for a while, and returned to learn VB. Then went on to learn some Perl, then PHP. Working on Python now. Something I've noticed, and it may be a relief for you to hear, is that the more you learn, the easier it is to learn. At least that has been my experience.
