Voicemail to Text?

Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with services that provide transcription of voicemail to text-messages? I'm realizing that I spend a lot of time listening to messages and / or missing calls and not being able to check the message until much later, thereby missing an important thing. I don't have an iphone, so I'm looking for something that would send me the message as an SMS.

Thanks!

Google voice is pretty decent, and the transcription keeps getting better all the time. I feel like it really is The Future of Phones.

yeah google voice is a good voicemail alternative. I just wish it had a way to notify me quicker when a voice mail is left. Right now the android app takes up to 15-20 minutes.

I have heard good things about Google Voice, but because I'm in Canada, I can't use it!

Are there any other options?

Thanks.

I use PhoneTag. It's not free, but I like it a lot, and have found it more accurate than google voice.

Google Voice is the best of the free alternatives, but yes, there are much more robust voice transcription services out there. They're improving their software, but it wasn't originally built for general purpose transcription--it was originally written for Google-411, where its corpus could be much much smaller and more focused. If you notice, GV's transcriptions get phone numbers right almost every time. Cities, locations, proper names, it does all that quite well. It gets messed up mostly because it tries to find meaning in the random ums and ers of regular voicemail speech.
