Fix Windows Media Player???

This is a serious problem... I first noticed, windows media player, would freeze up all the time on embedded videos, I couldn't watch alot of the videos on this site. Then I upgraded WMP, from microsoft.com, and now it does the same thing, when I try to view even non embedded videos, nothing happens, I haev to close, and alt ctrl delete.. Thus forcing me to have to right click save, to view, this is only when I am streaming a video. Saving, and viewing works fine... Anyone have any ideas what the heck is wrong with my comp?

Quicktime. Real Player. WMP has problems. It really depends on what system you are running. If you have XP then Microsoft probably has updates that fis the problem, if no XP then you're probably stuck with the problem until you upgrade. It could be a number of things that are messing up with your WMP. If you want a quick fix then just dump WMP and get either Quicktime or RealPlayer.

i would scan for viruses, i recently was reading up on the virus "parite A" and "parite B" and many people that had problems w/ windows media player ended up having that virus.

Thanks, I'll scan first, then check microsoft for problems. Also, what if it's a .wmv, isn't that WMP only?

the computers codecs are what play the file, so if you have a codec that can play .wmv, then most any program that uses that codec can open it

I recently downloaded C4 Media Player from http://www.c4player.com

Very simple program, uses practically no resources.
Sometimes simple is good!

just read somewhere that if you download wmp skins sometimes you may also download a virus that piggybacks on to the skin. There should be fix at the m$ site. Just run your antivirus, make sure it's database is updated. A good AV is AVG, and it free to d/l. Hope this helps

Stay far away from real player. it is loaded with freaking spyware. its a shame that some people still use it as a format.

heres a quick and free way to scan your computer for viruses.
