How do I make Windows Media Player My Default Player?

Open the player, then goto tools->options and look for the tab that says file types. Then select the types you want to use it with, or hit select all.

tools->options
go to "file types" tab. Click away.

with older versions, View->options, Formats tab

Or you can right click on the file in xp and select open with and them choose program there you can tell windows to associate a file with a particular program. If you are using another version of windows you have to hold a key either shift alt or ctrl I can’t remember. But from there the procedure is the same.
