Try getting DivX player:

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=divx

Make sure Xvid is installed:

If you don't have a DVD player program, get Power DVD:

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=powerdvd

If it still won't play, install the K-Lite codec package:

I'd recommend installing vlc (http://www.videolan.org). Using that you should not have to install any extra codecs at all, and it's free too!

Yes, VLC is teh God of video players. There are only a few occasions where I've found myself actually needing to search out and install a codec.

I recommend highly *against* codec packs. Some codecs interfere with others and if you don't know this when you're picking which codecs to install, you can screw up your system.

Best way to deal with downloading codecs is to use GSpot to find out which codecs you need and download and install them individually.

I always used to use Winamp until I reformatted a few months ago, and now I use VLC. It is THE god of video players.

One more VLC vote, for ease of playback, but god I hate the user interface. Hate, hate, the modal bastard, hate.

Media player classic rubs me better but gathering codecs mean more work.

I agree with SM about the codec packs. Like the roommate who never flushes.

did you install the latest drivers for your video card? also make sure hardware acceleration is turned on - display properties - settings - advanced - troubleshoot
