Power Supply Suggestion needed plz )

Hey all, I guess it has been awhile since I was in dire needs of a power supply, but here I am and I am behind the times! When I say dire, I mean that I installed a 250gb drive (3rd drive) and whenever I use it heavily (dvd backup for example) ill get bsod and a reboot. Since I am a desktop support engineer, ive done the troubleshooting and im certain its a power issue, or lack thereof.

I have a 350watt atm, but combined with a raptor 74g, a 160GB ide, and now a 250gb ide...along with 2 dvd burners in an amd 3500+ with an ati x850 card ( i know i know....i waited this long?..i did *lowers head*)

In any case, any suggestions? Seasonic 500w? Thermaltake 620? Id say I had a budget up to $150 at this point.

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

-Silver

I like Thermaltake, but ONLY the toughpower lines. The other lines aren't nearly as good.

Sparkle is also a real good, reliable power supply.

Your 12v is probably one rail of squealing pain. What are the current supply's ratings? What board/processor combo?

Any newer two-rail 12v supply should be adequate. If you aren't going SLI or adding several more drives, liquid, etc, $150 is overkill. A good 500 should be more than enough.

I don't think you'll need more than 600 watts, but if you do the toughpower line goes up to 1200W

the model that I linked is a 600 watt one. If you feel like going higher, I can link you to anything from 600 to 1200 in that brand.

If you want style and/or cable management, buy a high-quality modular power supply http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g11/...ml?o=price_asc .

If you want my personal recommendation, buy a 400w+ Enermax PSU. I've been running my 350w Enermax NoiseTaker PSU for..drum roll: 4 years. My brother has been using his 410w NoiseTaker Enermax for 4 years as well, except he's had 5 (five) internal hard drives and an Athlon 64 and GeForce 6. Enermax makes incredible power supples that are extremely quiet and powerful.

BTW 400w is plenty of watts for a high-quality power supply but since you have a good budget I posted the ones closer to 500w.
