TV half dead?

So my 27 inch non flat screen Samsung TV (Model no. TXH2555) has a problem:
the top half of the screen is black.
Between both halves is a bright white line.

I bought it used for 100 bucks (yeah, I know, stupid), and the only problem I noticed is that sometimes it'd switch itself off and back on, but nothing very bothersome. Any TV experts? any recommendations as to what to do, if anything?

It has lost the virtical output.
It is fixable.
Do not run the TV until you get it fixed - you may burn a line on the picture tube.

Well, how can I fix it? Is it affordable? Is there anything I can do myself? Is the repair gonna cost more than what I paid for the TV?
It's got its problems, and even if I repair the vertical output, there's still that weird issue about it switching off/on by itself, which could eventually become something more serious.
I don't know what to do..

Talk to someone at a TV repair shop.
Get an estimate.
The two problems may be related.

If you have to ask, you can't repair it yourself.
